Center for Well-Being Fire Update

Center for Well-Being Services: Fire  Closure and Updates

The Center for Well-Being re-opened our Brookwood facility this morning, Monday, October 16th. It was a welcome return as staff hugged each other and offered condolences. Several of our team members unfortunately lost their homes in the fires, but everyone is safe. Together we will rebuild. This afternoon staff and the Board of Directors met to determine how the Center for Well-Being will continue to support the health and well-being of Sonoma County given our current state of emergency. Collectively we came up with several strategies to bring together community including drop-in HeartWorks support groups, diabetes glucometer distribution and trainings, linking community to needed resources and a fervent commitment to getting our services back up and running as quickly as possible.

Facility Update:
Our main facility located at 101 Brookwood Avenue reopened Monday morning (10/16) and will begin to offer classes as planned. Those classes canceled last week will be rescheduled. Please check the website for class dates.

HeartWorks, Cardiac Rehabilitation, located in the Fountaingrove Medical Building, 3536 Mendocino Ave., remains closed. The building is intact, but it is located within the mandatory evacuation zone of the Tubbs fire. Once we are able to enter the building and the evacuation has been lifted, staff will assess damage to the facility, air quality and plan for any necessary repairs. As soon as we are able to reopen HeartWorks, patients will receive a phone call at least the day prior to the start of classes. In the meantime, we are holding drop-in support groups for our HeartWorks cardiac rehabilitation patients daily at 9am and 1:30pm at the Center for Well-Being located at 101 Brookwood Avenue, Suite A. We miss you and look forward to seeing our HeartWorks family soon!

UPDATE: The HeartWorks facility will reopen Monday, October 23rd!

One thing I know for sure is the Center staff and Board is united in our commitment to support fellow staff, volunteers, patients, and the community now and into the future as we rebuild Sonoma County, together.
