- Weight Control
Program -
James Rosen, Ph.D. & Nora Bulloch, RD, MA, MPH
The
Weight Control Program is designed to help men and women
to lose weight and improve physical health and fitness
using a combination of healthy nutrition, self-control
of eating, and increases in exercise. This is not a quick
weight loss or “diet” program. There are no special foods,
forbidden foods or supplements. Instead, participants
learn their own solutions to eating, cooking, and dining
out that fit their lifestyles, but still help them lose
weight and improve nutrition. Unlike many programs that
focus mainly on reducing calories, this program has as
much emphasis on increasing physical activity. Participants
learn how to overcome obstacles to exercise and make exercise
a bigger part of their lives.
People
who are accepted into this program work in a group with
two leaders who are experts in nutrition, exercise and
behavior change. Feedback from the leaders and other group
members help people stick to their goals, to stay motivated,
and not slip back into old habits. The leaders can communicate
with physicians to help coordinate weight control with
treatment of medical problems. A goal of the program is
to make a plan to keep weight off. Graduates can take
advantage of follow-up support after regular sessions
end.
James
Rosen , Ph. D. is Professor Emeritus from the University
of Vermont where he was a clinical psychology professor
and researcher for 28 years. He is recognized internationally
as an expert in eating disorders, body image, obesity
and weight control.
Nora
Bulloch has been a registered dietitian and health educator
for 16 years and holds masters degrees in nutrition education
and public health nutrition. She has developed and facilitated
many health education and weight control groups and enthusiastically
works to personalize her approach for each person.

- Primordial Sound Meditation
- W. Warren Mills, MD, FACP
As
revived and updated by Deepak Chopra:
When
the mind is focused on the “primordial sound”, the mental
chatter quiets down, allowing for better access to the
creative powers of the Self.
The
individual “primordial sound”(mantra) provided according
to the person's birth data, makes meditation accessible
and enjoyable.
Regular
practice promotes a general sense of well-being, improved
memory and mental focus, better sleep, reduction of anxiety,
